Snaplock Karabiner werden nicht gebogen sondern im Gesenk geschmiedet. Das gesenkschmieden bewirkt eine Materialverfestigung. Bei gebogenen Karabinern ist das Material dagegen in den Biegebereichen durch innere Spannungen geschwcht. Mit 16 kN Bruchlast bei offenem Schnapper trgt der Snaplock etwa viermal mehr als gewhnliche Gleitschirmkarabiner.
