Stre haben sich seit der Urzeit kaum verndert, und das macht die Haut einmalig unter den Fischledern und den Ledern berhaupt. Die Gerbung der Haut des Strs ist sehr aufwendig, da die Oberflche sehr unregelmig ist. Das macht die Hute teurer und viel werthaltiger als andere Fischleder und die daraus gefertigten
