Nitrile rubber can tolerate short term dry running of the sealing lip. The operating temperature range without failure of nitrile rubber is 40 to +100 C. My favorite BMW car mount.
This is my favorite mount for BMWs. I have them on two cars (X4M and a 328), but I always modify the mount and install a metal ball (purchased here on Amazon) so I can mount an ESR Wireless charger.
