It has a series of vents cut into the back portion of the top to eliminate any heat build up. It is secured in the front by your throttle body bolt. Really love the comfort of these shoes and all the straps are adjustable! However, the velcro on one strap came completely off a few weeks after purchase. I reattached it with glue, but it came off again. I plan to try to sew it back on because they are that comfortable. It is really frustrating though.
