It began its life as part of a much larger vehicle sized netting, before a GI cut out a square just large enough to fit an M1 helmet. 2" camouflage helmet nets were popular among members of the 551st Parachute Infantry Regiment; and in the Pacific Theater of Operations, Marines would sometimes wear these over their camouflage helmet covers. It is displayed here on a fixed loop
